In-person & Telehealth

SimplePractice Profile

I am the Founder, CEO, and Clinical Supervisor at Inclusive Minded, and I lead with a blend of lived experience, trauma-focused training, cultural humility, and a deep love for people. More than any title, I am a human being who has walked through uncertainty, transition, and healing—and these experiences shape the compassion and clarity I bring to my work every day.

I grew up navigating systems, barriers, and challenges that shaped my understanding of resilience and vulnerability. During seasons of life when my family needed support, we sometimes relied on social programs. I know the courage it takes to seek help, especially when life feels overwhelming, and I carry profound respect for anyone who takes that step.

I have also been in therapy myself—more than once, and for many chapters of my life. Therapy supported me through grief, growth, separation & reconciliation, parenting, leadership, and the ongoing journey of becoming. Because of this, I hold a deep, personal understanding of the bravery it takes to show up honestly. This humanness, humility, and respect guide how I sit with clients, supervise clinicians, and collaborate with organizations.

Yes… I’m a nerd—and I love learning

One of the most authentic parts of who I am is that I am truly a nerd at heart.
I LOVE learning—in a wholehearted, curious, passionate way.

I find joy in:

  • taking advanced professional trainings

  • attending workshops and presentations

  • reading books and research

  • understanding how things are built

  • and learning how systems and people work

  • dancing, hiking, traveling & cooking

My educational, professional, and research journey is a true reflection of this passion. As someone who has earned multiple academic awards, conducted research at the C-MIIND Lab, and invested in extensive trauma-focused trainings, learning is both my personal grounding practice and my professional compass—and this love of learning only grows stronger as I get older.

Academic & research foundation

While raising my children, I completed both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work at the University of Utah, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA and receiving numerous honors, including:

  • John Hardy Steward Legacy Award

  • Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society

  • National Engaged Leader Award

  • Multiple academic scholarships and leadership recognitions

As a Research Assistant at the C-MIIND Lab with Dr. Eric Garland, I contributed to published research on Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement (MORE), deepening my grounding in the science of trauma, mindfulness, attention, and healing.

How I support clients, clinicians, and organizations

In therapy, supervision, and consultation, I integrate the modalities that most align with trauma recovery, nervous system healing, and deep self-discovery:

  • Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (formal training completed through the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute)

  • EMDR Therapy + Attachment-Focused EMDR (formal training completed through the Humanitarian Assistance Programs, HAP)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Mindfulness & somatic practices

  • Polyvagal Theory

  • CBT & DBT

  • Body–Mind–Soul integrative approaches

I believe deeply that healing requires safety, dignity, curiosity, and choice (trauma-informed approach)—and that the therapeutic relationship is a collaboration, not a hierarchy.

As a Clinical Supervisor, I mentor therapists through reflective practice, culturally responsive care, trauma-informed frameworks, and somatic awareness. I feel honored to guide clinicians who hold such profound dedication to our communities.

Rooted in advocacy and community involvement

My lived experience is inseparable from my commitment to equity, access, and healing justice. Over the years, I’ve served Utah’s BIPOC, LGBTQ+, immigrant, and Spanish-speaking communities through advocacy, leadership, and education, including:

  • Voting member, Utah Behavioral Health Planning & Advisory Council

  • Co-Chair, Communities United for Racial and Ethnic Integration & Equity

  • Presenter and trainer for multiple organizations supporting survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence

In 2025, Inclusive Minded received the SAAM Award from UCASA—a recognition of our dedication to survivors and trauma-informed advocacy statewide.

Educator, facilitator, and consultant

For nearly a decade, I have offered bilingual workshops, professional trainings, and community education on:

  • trauma-informed care

  • attachment & emotional regulation

  • culturally responsive systems

  • somatic and mindfulness tools

  • survivor support & advocacy

  • and organizational wellness

I love teaching—and I love witnessing people feel more confident, grounded, and hopeful after learning together.

“Viviendo Mejor con Martha”

I created my YouTube channel to offer free, accessible, trauma-informed resources to Spanish-speaking communities around the world.
The videos include grounding skills, educational information, attachment concepts, and emotional regulation practices.

Education is one of the deepest joys of my life—and sharing it is one of my greatest purposes.
