I know that reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable—especially if you’re used to pushing through, taking care of others first, or navigating life between cultures. As a bilingual therapist born and raised in Colombia, and now rooted in Utah, I understand what it’s like to carry multiple identities, adapt to new environments, and grow through experiences that shape both our strengths and our wounds.
I bring my lived experience as an immigrant, a father, an educator, and a community advocate into my work. These parts of my life have taught me patience, compassion, and the belief that everyone deserves a place where they feel understood—without having to translate their emotions, their story, or their culture.
My approach to therapy
I work with individuals and couples (18+) who are navigating stress, anxiety, trauma, cultural pressures, relationship challenges, and identity transitions. My therapeutic approach is warm, steady, and grounded in connection. I use:
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
-
Client-Centered & Trauma-Informed Care
-
Mindfulness-Based Practices

Clients often tell me that my presence feels calming, genuine, and respectful. My biggest strength is slowing down enough to really hear you—your fears, your hopes, your goals—so that therapy becomes a safe, steady place where healing and clarity can take shape.
A culturally grounded lens
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over fourteen years serving communities in Glendale, West Valley, Kearns, Rose Park, and beyond—as an instructor, program coordinator, and advocate for youth and families. These experiences taught me how layered healing can be when we’re carrying cultural expectations, immigration stress, or the responsibility of being the “first” or “only” in our family.
My current Ph.D. research focuses on mental health in the Latinx community—especially the impacts of stigma, access barriers, and generational narratives. I bring that knowledge into therapy by creating a space where your cultural story is not only welcomed, but honored.

Working with couples
Couples often come to me wanting to communicate better, reconnect emotionally, rebuild trust, or break patterns that feel stuck. I support partners with practical tools, cultural awareness, and a calm, structured approach that helps both partners feel heard—not blamed. Whether sessions are in Spanish, English, or both, I help couples create new ways of relating rooted in respect, clarity, and care.

Who I am beyond being a therapist
I’m a person who loves cooking (especially traditional Colombian dishes), reading and writing poetry, and spending time with my family—my greatest source of joy and grounding. I value humor, curiosity, and taking things one step at a time. These personal parts of me shape how I show up in the therapy room: human first, therapist second.
