Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP)

What is Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP)?

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) is a gentle and body-centered approach to healing. It recognizes that our body holds memories, emotions, and reactions connected to past experiences. Instead of focusing only on thoughts or stories, SP helps you notice and work with the sensations, movements, and patterns that arise in your body.

Through mindful awareness and compassionate guidance, you can learn to understand your body’s signals, release tension, and create new patterns that support healing and connection.

SP helps you feel more grounded, safe, and present in your daily life.

What can Sensorimotor Psychotherapy help with?

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy can help bridge the gap when traditional talk therapy hasn’t fully resolved emotional or physical distress. It supports healing from trauma, attachment wounds, and the effects of chronic stress.

SP can help with:

• Anxiety or chronic worry

• Difficulty concentrating due to fear or upsetting thoughts

• Intense emotional reactions that feel out of place

• Post-traumatic stress, including flashbacks or feeling ‘stuck’

• Trouble feeling hopeful, relaxed, or connected to joy

• Relationship pain or childhood wounds

• Persistent self-doubt or feelings of unworthiness

• Feeling disconnected from yourself or your body

SP offers a compassionate path toward understanding and healing through your body’s wisdom.

This information is provided for educational purposes and is inspired by trauma-informed care principles.
